There are so many pastebins on the Internet these days. Why does the world need another one? I don’t know, but I wanted one for myself because of my friends and I when we were in Computer Science. Others found the pastebin so I then made password protected pastes. I like how the Pastebin is now. The only problems I have with it are that in FireFox when you copy and paste from it it also includes some weird numbers, so you have to copy and paste from the code box which isn’t that bad. Also I was trying to implement a printer friendly feature but I’m too sick of working on it so I gave up after I realized that with it people were able to circumvent password protection, I know there’s a way to fix that but I’m just too tired. Tag Archive for 'spam'
I’ve been working on my Pastebin because I want to release its source. I have to, anyways, cause it’s GPL’d, but I mean I want to clean it up for release (I don’t really have to unless someone asks me for it though). I’ve removed my simple yet effective personal approach to spam bots (Where it asks the user what my first name is) because if I release the source and many people use it it’ll be bypassed anyways. So I implemented reCAPTCHA and it’s working great.
I’ve been working on it cosmetically as well. Right now it’s not really working with IE, by that I mean it doesn’t look as intended, but that’s to be expected from IE. If anyone knows how to fix it (It’s just disobeying one or two BR tags that’s all) I’d appreciate any feedback. The pastebin includes an Archive, reCAPTCHA anti-spam support, and password protected pastes. It’s just another thing to add to my portfolio, not necessarily something that I’m going to be maintaining (Unless people are interested in it).
This plugin is outdated. I suggest you use WP-reCAPTCHA instead!
As you might’ve read in my My Fight Against Spam post, I have been using reCAPTCHA on this blog as well as on The Instagib Project Wiki with great success. I’ve even turned off Akismet and I still don’t get any spam. Well, they also have a service called Mailhide which lets users hide their email addresses. People who would like to see the address then have to fill an easy CAPTCHA and the address is revealed.
After realizing that there were no other plugins for WordPress like this, I decided to write my own. I use the Mailhide API, and make it easier on myself by using the PHP Library for reCAPTCHA. If you want to use this, you’ll have to get your free (No registration required either) API keys here. Continue Reading
I’ve had a bad history with spam on all my sites. Here is a run down on how I have been fighting spam, and I will continue to update it as I continue the fight. Continue Reading
