Workout Log: 8-31-8

Okay, I haven’t done this in forever, and I really want to get back to doing it regularly so if all goes well I should be doing it regularly again. I’m also going to try and practice guitar regularly again, as well as try and learn Portuguese, hah. I just did the typical, except instead of the usual 3 sets I did 2 and I did one less plate, cause again, I haven’t done this in about two months :/ I hope to begin running again :)

Razer Diamondback 3G

By the way, I ordered a much needed Seagate Barracuda 1 Terrabyte Hard Drive with 32 MB Cache SATA 3.0 Gb/s. I was running out of space and I found this at a pretty good price so I took the opportunity and bought it. I also ordered a new Razer Diamondback 3G because my old Razer Diamondback Plasma ‘Limited’ Edition…well, I was just in need of an upgrade because I had that mouse for 3-4 years. It still works great for the most part so I’m going to give it to my brother, who uses an olldddd wireless mouse which eats batteries like no tomorrow. Hopefully they should arrive by this coming week. I’m also really looking forward to getting a new phone (One in particular) because I’ve had the same boring flip phone for like 3-4 years, I just hope I qualify for this particular phone, and since I’m not certain I will, I don’t want to get my hopes up. Let’s just say that part of the name of the mouse I got is in part of the name of the phone I want to get (As if that won’t give it away).

I also started college at Cal State Fullerton on Monday, so far it seems really nice. I like how most of my professors don’t really care if you go to class, are late, etc., not because I’m planning on doing it but it gives you a good feeling knowing that you’re going and doing the work because you want rather than because you’re being forced to, as was the case for the past 12 years. My classes are History to the 15th Century, Intro. to Human Communications, Math Structures, and Programming Concepts. However, I took a placement test for Computer Science (Which is what I’m majoring in) and passed so I can take the most advanced class I possibly can, being Data Structures, however the class was supposedly full so I’ve been wait listed. I still have been going to class to Data Structures though in case I do get in so that I don’t miss anything, and man it really is what I think I should be at. Programming Concepts is just AP Comp Sci all over again not to mention it’s elementary stuff which I learned when I was like 12 or 13 (Arrays, etc.). I really do hope I get a spot in the Data Structures class. There’s always a seat available when I attend the class so I really hope I will be able to get in.

Club Life

Also, I’ve been listening to tons of trance lately, in fact, it’s all I’ve been listening for about a month and a half. It’s so frickin awesome. Not that I don’t like rock or anything, I guess I was just tired of it. Trance feels so relaxed and fresh, I can listen to it while in any mood and it’s so frickin awesome for just zoning out and for going to sleep. The main reason for which I started getting into trance is because I got into a few wonderful trance trackers where there’s tons of trance music. I already have RSS Auto Downloading set up for TiĆ«sto’s Club Life, which is like his own radio show or something which airs on Fridays I believe, in the Netherlands. It contains tons of awesome trance songs, rarely any of his actual songs.

Tried to Fix Razer DiamondBack’s Jerky Scroll

I opened up my Razer DiamondBack Plasma Limited Edition (Which I’ve had since I was a freshmen in High School). I used many guides including one at I-Hacked.com, Razer Blueprints, as well as one from Dans Data. These helped with opening up the Razer which was pretty simple, except for the part where I had to detach the front side of the mouse. Anyways, after opening it I removed a lot of like, wool or some type of crazy stuff haha, well not a lot but there was a considerable amount accumulated on the scroll wheel which I hoped was the reason for the jerky scrolling.

Oh by the way, what I mean by jerky scrolling is, I would scroll down a page and every 3 scrolls or so it would jerk and scroll in the opposite direction. This is obviously very frickin annoying especially in games like Unreal Tournament 3. I usually use hotkeys to switch weapons in games but in UT3 there are too many weapons and in the middle of the intense adrenaline packed action it’s not sane to reach across the keyboard for the 9 key. There is a method called Pipe Switching which allows one to make it so that, well for example picture it this way. I press the 1 key once and the link gun comes up, I press it again and the rocket launcher comes up. This means that 6 weapons could be put into 3 keys. I haven’t tried this yet and there are some claims that there is a momentary lag when the keys are press which is obviously a huge downfall.

Anyways the jerky scrolling problem is the worst when scrolling through weapons as you might imagine because you would never be able to get to the weapon you want to use. I figured it had to be some type of junk building up around the scroll wheel inside the mouse so I decided to open it up. Like I already mentioned, there was some build up of like, well just dust and the like which I carefully took my time to remove. Anyways I decided to clean things the best I could but don’t see any huge difference, except that now (And I think this is FireFox’ doing since I just turned on ’smooth scrolling’) instead of a huge jerk in the opposite scrolling direction, it just doesn’t scroll for that scroll. Like I said I haven’t tested this extensively yet but from the looks of it the cleaning didn’t have any profound effect.

The problem could be with the scroll wheel checker thing that checks the scrolls and all that, it might have a tiny bit of dust in there that’s causing this or it could be that it’s just too old, after all like I said I’ve been with this mouse for like 4 years now haha, but I still love it.
