Yes, I worked out yesterday too, the usual schedule is mon/wed/fri/sun, but today I didn’t have math class, and so I didn’t feel like going to Java class since I already know everything and the homework is turned in and assigned from the web interface anyways. When I do go, I just go on my MacBook and do stuff, so it felt kinda pointless. So to compensate for that and the fact that I didn’t work out on Sunday, I decided to work out.

So yeah I have one of these Weider machines that someone gave me a while ago, used. It’s all I’ve had so I’ve been using it, regardless of whether or not it might not be the best work out tool. Anyways, I started off by trying to do some shoulder dislocations, I’ve been getting a bit better at them, but nowhere close to how they should be done. So I was getting pumped up with some new tracks I spent time looking for. I do the usual after that, stretch, some curls, sit ups, push ups, then I go to the machine. I began doing some flyes and they were pretty easy actually. Usually the initial push is pretty difficult and not smooth, but this time it was really smooth. So I begin doing that, and at like the 7th rep all of the weights (Yes, I’ve been doing all of the weights for a while now) come smashing down and hit the ground. Instantly I knew what had happened, the cables gave up and broke, they frickin broke. I didn’t want to give up right away so I improvised by repeating what I did before a few times over.

The thing is that this thing was used when it was given to me. The cables were pretty worn out to begin with, the coating was ripped in certain places so that the actual twine (Or whatever) was exposed. Add this to some rusty pulleys (Not insanely bad rusty, but not smooth either) and it had the effect of making something as little as 5 lbs feel way heavier due to the added friction. Since it’s all I’ve had, I’ve gotten used to it. It meant that progressing through the weights (Adding another weight) took a bit longer for me since I was exerting more strength. Anyways, it’s now been two months or so since I’ve been doing all of the weights. I’ve basically been wrestling the machine for a work out haha, and it worked for a while. Anyways, this obviously means I have to look for a bench quicker than planned. I imagine I could go buy some cables, I doubt the machine is completely useless now. Regardless, though, I wasn’t planning on using the machine any longer. So my plan now is to get a bench and weight set, decent ones, and also begin to run now that it’s getting somewhat sunnier and warmer.

Anyways, I already felt like I had accomplished something nice. I started one day before turning 17, and it took me longer than expected because of some detours, but I stuck to it and I was able to finish it. What better feeling could I have than to know that I broke the frickin cables off the machine. Great finale.

Tab Through Checkboxes and Buttons in OS X

So as you probably already know, I recently got a MacBook. I have loved OS X so far, I think it’s a really fast and elegant OS (As a friend likes to call it, “Sexy Unix”). There’s only a few things that I have been taking a bit of time getting used to, but very few. The only thing so far that had been really annoying me though, was that in the OS X version of Firefox, you can’t really tab through checkboxes. So if you’re in a form for example, I’m used to not ever using the mouse (In my case, the touchpad), just the keyboard, navigating with TAB and the space bar. Well this isn’t possible in OS X out of the box, forcing me to move my cursor and manually click on a checkbox each time after filling in some information (Even something as simple as logging into a site became annoying, despite Sxipper).

Well after some searching I learned that this is actually possible with a little tweaking. Go to about:config (Type it into the address bar and press enter), right click anywhere on the bottom and click New > Integer. In the first box that comes up, type accessibility.tabfocus and in the next box type the number 7 . I’m not sure, but I believe a restart of Firefox is required (I did anyways to be sure), and once you’re back up you should be able to tab through checkboxes and a few other things like drop down lists. Makes life a whole lot easier :)

So obviously I’m trying to write these frequently again. Anyways, nothing new today. It felt a bit easier I guess since I was ‘warmed up’ from yesterday. I won’t be doing anything till Wednesday. As usual I listened to hard trance, stuff never gets old. I’m currently looking for some more new stuff though, to not wear it out.

Writing this from my living room while watching 90s cartoons with my popcorn hour, how much more comfortable this is than being on my desktop haha.
