I was recording some ‘covers’, no you know what they’re not even covers cause they’re just like the intro, and in some it’s not even the whole intro, aside from being sad excuse of an intro cover haha. I’m on an acoustic steel string guitar so I have to improvise, I’m new to the whole guitar scene so my improvising methods might not be the best.
I’m a noob at guitars
I’m in drop D tuning
The first is Slide from The Goo Goo Dolls. I’ve always liked those guys and this was one of their many songs I like which seemed easy to play. In fact my brother said it’s the first thing I’ve been able to do that is ‘okay’ in quality haha. Check it out:
In part of the second half of it I go a bit higher, but that’s just me adding to it so it doesn’t sound boring. The reason is because in the real song, that’s like the main…thing or whatever you call it, it just loops, and since I’m not even doing the whole song I wanted to add some distinction.
Another thing is I can’t get the sixth string to sound right. It seems to sound better in drop D than in standard tuning though, but it still doesn’t seem right. It’s probably because the tab I used used a capo, but I pick the strings very close to the bridge and it sounds similar, but I don’t know.
The second is Strength of the World by Avenged Sevenfold, a song I frickin love, it’s like a masterpiece. It involves acoustic and electric instruments, such as violins (I think, I’m no musician), acoustic guitars, electric guitars, etc. The intro is acoustic, it sounds like it’s an acoustic guitar followed by violin(s), but I’m not sure. I just know the guitar part, and I have to improvise cause they actually do finger sliding or whatever it’s called and I’m not really good at that yet, and even if I was it doesn’t sound like anything cause I don’t have a slider or whatever it’s called, for it to sound at all. There’s also a second guitar that plays a chord at a certain point, you’ll recognize it if you’ve ever heard the song. I went a bit too slow compared to the original song, I’ll try it again some other time at a correct rhythm.
