So I was getting pissed off at how bad IE was. Earlier today I read an article on how some people who were trying to cut some slack for it ultimately couldn’t find a way to, simply put, “In All Fairness … Internet Explorer Still Stinks“. After working two whole days on sites and having to mess with IE a lot, I am now dropping all support for it and could give a rats’ how my site looks on IE. Sounds harsh? Well it’s Microsoft who doesn’t feel a need to follow web standards, so why would I feel a need to support a lame browser like that? There are many great browsers which do, my personal favorites being Firefox and Opera.

Now, whenever visitors are running IE they will see a nice little discrete message at the top of each page saying, “Browsing the web with IE is like riding the bike on a highway. Become modernized, Get Firefox.” I couldn’t come up with a better quote haha, if you know one let me know.

If you would like to see a screenshot of it, check this one out, I’m running IE7 here. I’m not going to remove it, and besides it’s not like it’s annoying or anything, it’s pretty neat. If you have some weird obsession with a lame browser like IE then I’m sure you’d be used to seeing annoying stuff anyways. I figure the main reasons many people still run IE is because they A. think IE is the Internet and/or B. they don’t know of any alternatives. Hopefully this nice little message gets them on their way.

I was trying to make it a plugin for WordPress at first, but after a while of working on it, it just wouldn’t work after viewing a post, so I gave up on it. I hacked it into my theme. My theme is so hacked up, I love it haha.
