When I wanted a guitar I always had my eyes set on the Ibanez GRX20 because it’s cheap ($150) and supposedly a good guitar for the money. However, when I asked some people what they recommended for a first Electric Guitar almost everyone said Schecter Omen 6. But at $300, this seemed like too much for a noob like me, plus I didn’t have that kind of money. Anyways, I heard that Guitar Center was going to have a Black Friday special where they were giving 20% off on EVERYTHING. I was like, sweet, 20% off of $150 equals good deal. I then went to the store locater, found the Guitar Center near me (Brea), and then noticed a ‘Used Gear’ link. I scrolled down, noticed it was all just ‘gear’ (Amps, pedals, etc.), then I saw it, Schecter Omen 6. I clicked on the link and it was $200! Apply the 20% off and it was $160, I ended up paying $180 total though, that was frickin sweet.
So yeah now I have the Schecter Omen 6. No amp yet though so I can’t play it haha. I also need new strings on it and the amp cable. Pretty cool though. When I played it at the store on an amp it had a nice crunchy sound, which was what many people said in reviews but I didn’t understand what that meant. Anyways, it was the first time I had ever played an Electric Guitar so I didn’t know how to hook it up or anything, in fact I didn’t know how to use the amp but that’s another story. It sounded so nice and it was way easier to play, I played a whole lot faster. I just need to get an amp, either the Roland Cube 15X or the Roland Micro Cube, unless someone shows me a better amp at around $100. If and when I get better I’ll buy some new pickups for it.
Once I have all that, I can’t wait to start playing it. I’m so glad I got a Schecter, also because Avenged Sevenfold’s Synyster Gates is sponsored by it or whatever, and that’s like my favorite band at the moment so I’m definitely going to try to learn some of their songs. Maybe my brother could do violin backing in some of them haha. Take a look at what the Omen 6 looks like.
