Counter Strike Source: No Blood

There’s always a few people that are wondering how to turn off blood in Counter Strike Source, for various reasons. I skinned the blood splats/decals and erased them so now there are no longer blood splats. I didn’t do this intentionally though, I was just messing around with the VTF format and what not, and I figured I’d do something small like that.

Blood helps in letting you know if you shot them or not, but each to their own I guess. In this skin package all blood is removed. At first I had only made it so that wall blood smear decals were removed, something which I didn’t do intentionally but in an effort to get an idea of skinning in CS:S. After a few people showed interest and use of this, I decided to finish it off, something which wasn’t necessarily complicated. I have now removed all traces of blood, or so it seems. If there is any more that you know of please let me know and I’ll fix it.

Download the installer here.

Install to your account folder inside the steamapps folder.

If you get blood or gibs again, you will have to re-install the patch. Some servers have custom blood or gib content that overrides this patch.

  1. @xinix: Uhhh….what? In that case, when you install, make sure that ‘No blood decals’ is checked and ‘No blood splats’ is unchecked. If you already installed, uninstall first otherwise the previous installation files will remain.

@CountryRep: You will need the VTF Plugin. I don’t know the names of the files off the top of my head. However, what you can do is create a folder on your desktop or someplace else and install this patch to it, then simply edit the files inside the decals folder. Once you open them up (Again, make sure you have installed the VTF Plugin) then simply paint over the red blood or fill it with yellow or something (Maybe using the color settings like hue and saturation). Once you’re done, save as VTF and then simply overwrite the respective files in your counter strike source folder.

If this sounds too complicated, then wait and I will do it for you. I most likely can’t do it until Friday, earliest would possibly be Thursday. I will give you the files and all.

@Valvedude101: No problem man, you’re welcome.

  2. Thankx… I just needed a starting point. I dont have alot of time to goof around with this stuff so I appreciate your input.

    Good luck with everything.

  3. Can ypu please try to do this on Day of Defeat source. My parents don’t like the blood but I love that game. Please try it out.

  4. hey so how do u just remove the blood from the walls?
the little blood from being shot would be fine but its the big blood patches on the walls that will not fly with the parents, can u give me an easy way 2 remove that wall patches and not the puffs?

  5. nevermind, just read that u made that an option so, thanks for the work, i may be now able 2 get the game :)

  6. how do u put it into effect?

  7. Did you read the instructions on how to install it? Once you install it it comes to effect.

  8. I installed it but i don’t know how to set it as my skin or whatever u do with it. I already have CS:S if that helps. PLEASE REPLY.!!!!!!!!!

  9. Where r the instructions?

  10. It’s the first step in the installer, and they are also in the red box at the top of this page. There is no way to set it as your skin, you just install it and you’re done. Obviously though you didn’t read the instructions as to where to install meaning you installed it to the default, and wrong, place.

  11. Can u have other skins at the same time?

  12. I already told you it’s not a skin man, so yes, you can, and if you didn’t know it wouldn’t hurt to try.

  13. o srry im such a retard

  14. Don’t worry man it’s alright, at least you got it now it seems.

  15. thanks so much. my mom is a freak about blood and gore and u have solved my problem. UR AWESOME!

  16. wow ty alot, my dad is freaking out about the blood on the walls, me myself also thinks that the blood is a bit “too” realistic, if they were doing something like paintball or ketchup it’ll be fine… but oh well… too real for me personally lol. so ty alot!!!

  17. You’re welcome.
