Alright so I’ve finally settled on how I’m going to make screencasts. I’m going to make a few soon, you can see a list here. I’m going to make flash files for each so you could view them on the site as usual, but I will also provide them in AVI format encoded with x.264 (H.264) and OGG Vorbis for the audio. Most players should be able to play these files but if all else fails, I will always post links to VLC. If you know of better formats to use please tell me, this was the format with the best quality and size which I could find for what I’m doing. If I could, I would even encode to Matroska (MKV) because it’s such a great format, I could even include subtitles in it, but for now it’s AVI.
