Alright, after a long while I finally was able to get LaTeX support in this site. Two plugins made it somewhat easy: WP-Latex and its dependency, fauxML. I now just needed latex itself and dvipng. However, I couldn’t get past the configure script because it was complaining about a missing dependency, libkpathsea. After some searching, I wasn’t able to find anything but binary packages for it. I finally found teTeX, whatever the heck it is, it included dvipng and libkpathsea. The ./configure took ages, and the actual compiling took even longer, but in the end I was left with a nice little dvipng binary.
I then hurried to WP-Latex’ settings page, and filled in the paths to the binaries. That same page tries to execute a command to test if everything is working fine, but it kept throwing an exit code 1 though, and after man‘ing the dvipng binary, I realized that one of the parameters to it that the plugin was giving it, –halt-on-error, wasn’t even in there. So I went to automattic-latex.php and in line 171 removed it from the command string. I then refreshed the page and everything seemed to be working fine.
Some might wonder why I went through all this trouble, but I don’t know, I just really like how math formulas look in LaTeX, and I just kinda like the idea of being able to do it whenever I’d feel like doing it. To make sure this is working:
I cleaned up the Binary and Hexadecimal tutorial. I think it no longer looks like I just put random stuff together (Didn’t). I am going to revise it once again later, to see if I can make it a lot more concise. This tutorial is the very first thing I ever gave to the Internet Community, back in Jinx, right when I had gotten into computers. It is popular for being really easy to understand, regardless of your level of computer expertise (Or if you have any for that matter) and math proficiency, since it uses possibly the most logical pieces for it to make sense. It’s still featured at J!NX Forums (Though an outdated version) and is linked to from the Wikipedia’s Binary Numeral System page.
So it’s now 2008. 2007 was a pretty cool year for me. I started working out the same day I got my guitar: The day before I turned 17, February 3rd. This year I’ve also been doing really well in school and stuff. Continue Reading

I just got a message that I was admitted into San José State University. I only applied to it because it’s close to Silicon Valley (Its motto is Powering Silicon Valley). In fact, according to this:
The urban campus in San Jose, California, USA has an enrollment of about 30,000 students and claims to have more graduates working in Silicon Valley than any other college or university.
Not too bad. Here are some other things I found:
-Ranked #2 nationally among master’s degree level public institutions in the US by U.S. News & World Report
-Founding member of the national Cybersecurity Research Center (TRUST) … And of the NISA Center
-World finalist team in the Microsoft Embedded Systems Challenge
-Supported by Intel, Cadence, Xilinx, Cisco, Oracle, Sun, BEA, IBM, Microsoft,…
I don’t know if I’ll go there yet though, it’s too far away haha. Their Computer Science page sucks, but I guess that shouldn’t say much, hopefully. Here are their Computer Science B.S. Major’s requirements. They were the first Cal State campus.
