It looks like the two are merging from the looks of it, AMD is holding an acquisition of ATI. I had first seen this on SlashDot, which redirected me to The Inquirer. After starting the conversation at GameDev.Net, I had seen different views on the situation, some denied that it would happen, saying that The Inquirer had a reputation of “journalistic integrity of slightly damp sawdust”. During the conversation, somebody confirmed the movement by posting a link to a Daily Tech Article, which talks furthermore of the acquisition.
I’m personally pretty excited on the subject, though I don’t really know much about business terminology and what not other than “Horizontal and Vertical Expansion”, I’m not sure which it is in this case, and I don’t know what types of things this relationship could bring, but I can indeed say that I’m pretty excited to see what types of products come out of these companies in the time to come.
